Graham Platner’s Campaign Faces Allegations
Shortly after Graham Platner became the Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine, a woman took to social media to share her experiences with him. She claimed they briefly dated in 2021, recounting how they met on Tinder, discussed his affair, and mentioned inconsistencies in his story about a controversial tattoo.
“I’m coming forward as someone who has faced deceit and manipulation from him,” the woman, using the handle 420mercymain69, stated in a detailed post on X. She described being attracted to Platner because he appeared “good-looking and left-wing.”
The allegations provide further evidence of questionable behavior by Platner, adding to the growing scandal surrounding his campaign.
Past Misconduct Resurfaces
Platner, recently officially nominated to run against incumbent Senator Susan Collins, has dealt with renewed scrutiny over past comments related to sexual abuse, race, and allegations of intimidating women.
According to 420mercymain69, the two started communicating on Tinder in February 2021 and dated until July of that year. When asked about his Totenkopf tattoo, which is linked to Nazi imagery, Platner allegedly claimed he had gotten it unknowingly and that it served as a reminder of how the U.S. is viewed negatively in many places.
“It’s quite the sob story that only reinforced my views of his beliefs,” she noted. “But honestly, that wasn’t what he presented to the people of Maine. I was surprised that this was the narrative that emerged.”
Controversial Tattoo and Affairs
When questioned about the tattoo last year, Platner denied knowledge of any Nazi associations. His campaign spokesperson asserted that Platner had acquired the tattoo as a memento from Croatia and claimed he has since covered it up.
Aside from the tattoo, 420mercymain69 accused Platner of having multiple extramarital relationships. The couple ended things when a mutual friend revealed he was dating someone else during their time together.
“He talked about another woman he really liked, and honestly, I knew he wasn’t talking about me,” she alleged. “I got the message.”
Additionally, she claimed to have later discovered Platner was engaged to another woman named Jen when they started dating, and there were rumors he had also been involved with a third woman, who reportedly saw him with someone else at a wedding.
The woman summarized her experience, stating she didn’t want to derail Platner’s campaign but felt compelled to express concerns about his character. There has been no independent verification of her claims.
Reflecting on Trust
“More details will emerge,” she asserted. “As a voter in Maine, seeing the current situation unfold, I wouldn’t have supported him, regardless of my past. There’s too much doubt.”
