Police Arrest Ohio City Council Candidate for Allegedly Trespassing in Rival Candidate's Home

Cincinnati Candidate Arrested for Breaking Restraining Order

A former City Council candidate in Cincinnati was arrested early Saturday for allegedly breaking into the home of a House candidate who had a restraining order against him, as reported by local outlets.

Kevin Farmer, 39, faces charges of robbery and violating a restraining order following an incident around 3:26 a.m. at the residence of Rosemary Oglesby-Henry. She is a Republican campaigning for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. Reports indicate that Oglesby-Henry recorded Farmer breaking into her property through a garage window.

This arrest occurred just hours after Farmer announced to WLWT that he was withdrawing from the City Council race. Despite this, his name will still appear on the ballot for Tuesday’s election.

The latest incident adds to the couple’s contentious history. Previously, Oglesby-Henry was charged with aggravated menacing after allegedly pointing a gun at Farmer at his home in September. She has denied these allegations, citing that police found no firearms when they searched her property.

In a statement following his September arrest, Oglesby-Henry claimed, “While Mr. Farmer is still illegally occupying my home, he has used law enforcement to file a false lawsuit against me and jail me for no reason. He’s an abuser. I won’t back down.”

According to court documents, Farmer was also charged with assault and domestic violence against Oglesby-Henry in July, although the charges were later dropped, and she obtained a protection order against him.

Farmer appeared at his arraignment on Saturday morning in a sweatshirt that stated “God Got Me.” Before announcing his withdrawal from the election, he had advocated for government transparency and an end to violence, while running for one of the nine available seats without endorsements from political parties.

Oglesby-Henry is attempting to unseat Democratic Congressman Greg Landsman in the upcoming election.
