Police keep searching former Prince Andrew's residence following misconduct arrest

Police have been actively searching the former residence of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor following his recent arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This was confirmed by various sources on Friday. Images from Friday morning depicted law enforcement outside the Royal Lodge in Berkshire, Andrew’s previous home. The Thames Valley Police indicated that the search at Wood Farm, where he currently resides, wrapped up the day before.

The investigation into Andrew’s former mansion, a sizable 30-room property near Windsor Castle where he lived for years before his eviction earlier this month, is set to continue until Monday. A police van, unmarked but presumed to be official, was observed entering the premises throughout Friday.

Andrew returned to the Sandringham Estate on Thursday after spending nearly ten hours in custody. He was photographed arriving at Wood Farm, where he’s staying temporarily since being removed from the Royal Lodge.

The former prince was arrested due to allegations of sharing confidential information with Jeffrey Epstein. Emails released by the Department of Justice suggest that he communicated details of official trade visits to Epstein. Notably, one email indicated that he forwarded information to Epstein just five minutes after receiving it.

Other law enforcement agencies in the UK are also probing the links between Andrew and Epstein. The Metropolitan Police are looking into claims that London’s airports may have been involved in human trafficking and sexual exploitation. They mentioned efforts to engage former and current police officers who may have had close contact with Andrew during his time in security roles, asking them to share any pertinent information they might have.

The Metropolitan Police also addressed the ongoing media discussions, emphasizing that, as of now, no new criminal charges have been filed against them concerning sex offenses related to their jurisdiction. They continue to encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward, assuring that all allegations will be taken seriously and thoroughly assessed.

Royal commentator Meredith Constand expressed to various media outlets her belief that the situation is far from resolved. She remarked that sending confidential documents to Epstein is just “scratching the surface” of more serious concerns regarding Andrew’s conduct as a trade envoy. She called for the British government to release the files related to Andrew’s public life that have been kept from the public eye.

Notably, the ties between Epstein and the royal family have come under heightened scrutiny, particularly as they relate to Andrew. Allegations indicate that he sent sensitive trade reports to Epstein back in 2010 when he was serving as the UK’s special envoy for international trade. Emails unveiled through the Epstein investigation reveal that Andrew shared reports on official visits to various countries, including a detailed brief on investment opportunities in Afghanistan.
