Missing Dog Rescued by NYPD
A small black dog named Moose was safely brought back home after a tense rescue by New York City police, who found him trapped under a subway in Manhattan.
Moose, who had run away from his owner, ended up hiding beneath a northbound No. 2 train at 14th Street Station on Thursday. Reports indicate the pup may have been struck by the train before seeking refuge underneath it.
In a post made by the NYPD on X, they said, “When Moose, our dog, got carried away and hid under a train, the NYPD Special Ops Emergency Service Unit came to the rescue.”
Body camera footage from the NYPD captured officers descending a ladder onto the tracks to search for the lost dog. In one clip, an officer can be heard asking, “Where?” before discovering Moose hiding in the shadows. “Come here,” the officer calls out, urging him to come closer.
Shortly after, the officer was able to scoop Moose up and lift him onto the subway platform, where other officers were waiting. Someone in the background exclaimed, “Wow!” as the fluffy pup was brought to safety. According to reports, Moose was checked over before being reunited with his relieved owner.
Thanks to the quick actions of the NYPD, the dog was safely returned. Earlier this year, officers had also rescued a small dog from the East River, showcasing their ongoing commitment to helping animals in distress. The NYPD has yet to respond to additional inquiries about the incident.
