Police rescue 8-year-old girl crying for her mother during apartment fire: video

Last month, authorities in Nevada released body camera footage of police officers rescuing a distraught girl from an apartment fire.

Last week, the Henderson Police Department shared body camera video taken on March 10 on Facebook.

Authorities said they heard the child and mother were trapped in the apartment.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a window in the apartment broken and smoke and flames coming from inside,” police said in the video. “Officers were then advised that a mother and daughter were trapped inside the burning apartment.”

“The brave police officers acted quickly and without hesitation and were able to rescue the 8-year-old girl and her two dogs. There was no one else in the apartment.”

One police officer asked his colleagues if they wanted to come inside, and they forced their way into the apartment, which was filled with smoke.

“This is the Henderson Police Department. We’re entering now,” a police officer announced.

The officer soon noticed a child standing on the other side of the room and urged him to approach the child. At the time, she was wrapped in a blanket.

“Hey, come here. Hey, it’s okay. It’s okay, buddy,” the officer heard the 8-year-old boy say as he slowly walked towards him.

“Is there anyone else in here?” the officer asked, and the child responded that her mother was inside.

“I’ll go get mom,” he reassured the child. The 8-year-old girl then started crying on the way out of her home.

The rest of the video shows officers rescuing the dog from the apartment and searching through the smoke for the girl’s mother, who had already come out of the building.

Henderson locals praised the officers’ bravery in the comments section of the Facebook video.

“You guys are amazing. Keep doing what you need to do. I’m so grateful,” said one Facebook user.

“As a survivor with 75% burns, I commend HPD for their actions that likely saved this family’s life,” another wrote.
