Pollster warns of impact of Trump victory on Supreme Court

Republican pollster Frank Luntz warned of the impact that former President Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election would have on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“I'm not sure yet because the Supreme Court has a red flag in the Senate and it's more likely that Trump will win at this point, but if he wins, he will have the power to make appointments and the Senate will be Republican. , whoever he wants will be in office.''It's going to end up going to the Supreme Court,'' Luntz said during an appearance on NewsNation Tuesday night.

“The impact on this election night is about the same because there are several judges who are probably going to retire in the next year or two,” he added, without saying which judges would be leaving office immediately. Ta.

Luntz's remarks came before Decision Desk Headquarters (DDHQ) called out Pennsylvania as a battleground state to President Trump and ultimately to the election itself for Republican candidates early Wednesday morning.

During his first term in the White House, Trump appointed three judges: Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Justice Neil Gorsuch, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Law joined the bench. v. Wade was overturned in 2022, ending the federal right to abortion and returning it to the states.

Pollsters argued that a majority in the Senate would make it easier for Mr. Trump to implement some of his policy proposals.

“If he had a Senate, it would be easier for him to propose economic policies, some of which don't even require a vote in Congress, but if he wanted it, his tariff policies could get done. Please join us,” Lantz said.

Republicans won the Senate majority on Tuesday night after four years in the minority, according to DDHQ projections. So far, Republicans have captured two seats previously held by Democrats. In the West Virginia election, Governor Jim Justice replaced retiring Sen. Joe Manchin (I) and Republican candidate Bernie Moreno defeated incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). ).
