Potential Agreement to Conclude War and Return All Hostages

Israeli Negotiations in Doha

Israeli negotiators in Doha, Qatar are exploring various proposals related to deals with Hamas. This comes amid a significant shift in strategy from Israel.

Reports indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has stated that the Israeli team in Doha has nearly exhausted all avenues for a potential deal. This may include a cessation of hostilities, which marks a notable change in their approach.

The Prime Minister’s Office mentioned that the team is focusing on options proposed by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkov, which may involve temporary ceasefires and limited hostage swaps. Alternatively, there could be an extensive agreement aimed at ending the conflict, which would include the release of all hostages held in Gaza and the disarmament and exile of Hamas.

According to Witkov’s overview, even under Netanyahu’s direction, the Doha negotiators are committed to exploring every possible deal structure that could lead to a resolution of the conflict. This encompasses the release of hostages, the removal of Hamas fighters, and efforts to disarm the Gaza Strip.

This negotiation effort follows President Donald Trump’s visit to the region, during which Hamas released Edan Alexander, the last hostage held from America and Israel, signaling a gesture of goodwill.

In conjunction with these diplomatic efforts, Israel initiated “Operation Gideon” on Friday. This military operation aims to eliminate Hamas’s presence in Gaza, while taking care to minimize harm to Palestinian civilians when possible.
