Powerball jackpot soars to $815 million before Wednesday's drawing: Numbers, recent winners

This evening could really be a game changer.

The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an astounding $815 million, marking it as the seventh highest prize in the game’s history, just before Wednesday’s drawing.

This increase came after Monday night’s draw, where no one managed to match all six numbers: the white balls were 16, 34, 37, and 64, and the Red Powerball was 22.

If someone wins on Wednesday, they’ll have the option of taking a lump sum payment of about $367.9 million. That’s, I mean, life-changing money, right?

The current jackpot streak has reached 38 drawings without a winner, which feels kind of unreal, honestly.

Earlier this year, in 2025, there were four jackpot winners, the latest being a lucky ticket holder in California who scored $204.5 million on May 31.

Prior to that, there were three additional jackpots: a $167 million winner in Kentucky on April 26, a whopping $526.5 million in California on March 29, and a $328.5 million win in Oregon on January 18.

Even with this jackpot drought, it’s interesting to note that five winning tickets were sold in New York last week.

For the August 23rd drawing, a lucky ticket worth $1 million was sold at a Stop and Shop in Queens. That’s a nice payday, for sure. The other two tickets bought in Brooklyn and Middleport each won $50,000.

I guess it’s good to remember that California’s Edwin Castro still holds the title for the biggest Powerball win ever, snagging a staggering $2.04 billion on November 7, 2022, and opting for a $997.6 million payout.

After Castro’s win, a massive $1.765 billion prize was shared among winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee back in October 2023. Another significant jackpot of $1.586 billion was distributed among three states in January 2016.

In more recent history, an Oregon ticket won $1.326 billion in April 2024, while California had another big winner of $1.08 billion in July 2023.

Tonight’s possible win could indeed become the seventh largest jackpot ever, which is, you know, pretty incredible to think about.

Some of the remaining top jackpots include $842.4 million in Michigan (2024), $768.4 million in Wisconsin, $758.7 million in Massachusetts (2017), $754.6 million in Washington (2023), and $731.1 million in Maryland (2021).

It’s also worth mentioning that Rhode Island has celebrated 427 Powerball wins in the last 33 years, according to data compiled by CSDB.gg from 1992 to 2025.

New Jersey and New York sit at the 31st and 32nd positions among the 45 participating states and territories, with respective win rates of 2.45 and 2.14 wins per 100,000 individuals.

Despite all that, Powerball stats indicate that there’s a chance of one in 24.9 million to win any prize, but the odds of snagging the jackpot stand at one in 292.2 million.

By the way, the Mega Millions Lottery has a jackpot estimated at $277 million for its Friday drawing. Just saying.
