Trump Sends Tom Homan to Minnesota

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is dispatching Tom Homan, the border czar, to Minnesota.

According to Trump, Homan will oversee Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations specifically in Minneapolis and St. Paul, reporting directly to him. Trump also mentioned that the Justice Department and Congress are investigating Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota).

“Tonight I’m sending Tom Homan to Minnesota. He may not be directly involved, but he has connections and respect there. Tom will be tough yet fair and under my direction,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.

He added that a significant investigation is ongoing regarding a welfare fraud case exceeding $20 billion in Minnesota, which he claims is partly contributing to the unrest seen in the streets.

Additionally, Trump commented on Ilhan Omar’s background, stating that she left Somalia with nothing, yet her current wealth exceeds $44 million. “Time will tell how this unfolds,” he noted.

Homan’s assignment comes amid increasing tension in the Twin Cities and heightened scrutiny over ICE’s actions. Recently, two protesters opposing ICE, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Preti, lost their lives following confrontations with federal agents.

A new investigation into Preti’s death has been initiated.

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt chose not to confirm whether Homan’s deployment suggests a lack of confidence in the local ICE leadership in Minnesota.

“Tom Homan will take charge of ICE operations in Minnesota and work alongside teams on ongoing investigations,” Levitt stated.

The Trump administration has accused organized groups of obstructing ICE operations aimed at apprehending criminal illegal immigrants.

There’s growing concern about the escalating violence following a protest injury last week when an ICE officer was severely harmed during a failed immigration arrest.

Col. Greg Bovino of the U.S. Border Patrol described at a press conference how crowds disrupted and assaulted law enforcement, forcing ICE agents to abandon their objectives.

As a result, a suspect managed to evade custody, with Bovino attributing this failure to political decisions and activist interference. “This individual is still out there, roaming freely because of those choices,” Bovino remarked, expressing his disappointment.
