Trump Endorses New Candidate for NC’s 11th District

President Donald Trump has shown his support for Congresswoman Jennifer Balcomb, the newly selected Republican candidate for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.

Balcomb received her nomination this month after the current representative, Chuck Edwards, a Republican who had Trump’s backing, decided to step down from his re-election campaign.

“I am honored to endorse Jennifer Balcomb from America First Patriot as she seeks to represent the wonderful people of North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District!” President Trump asserted during a segment on his platform, Truth Social.

Balcomb expressed her gratitude to the President through a post, saying, “Thank you, President Trump! I truly appreciate your support. I am proud to stand up and fight for the people of Western North Carolina. I will work with you in Congress to continue rebuilding WNC after Helen, fight to deliver real results for our communities, and make life more affordable for hardworking families. I am ready to get to work,” while adding an American flag emoji.

Before his withdrawal, Trump had supported Edwards’ campaign for re-election, which he secured decisively during the Republican primary on March 3. Edwards announced on August 5 that he would not continue his campaign.

The decision to withdraw followed a report from the House Ethics Committee that recommended disciplinary action against him. The report indicated that Edwards “persistently engaged in unprofessional and inappropriate behavior toward two young female employees.”

While Edwards denied any intentions of making sexual advances, the report highlighted that a reasonable observer could interpret his actions as such. This included giving expensive gifts, making comments about appearance, inviting them to private dinners and getaways, and expressing affection in written notes.
