Dignified Transfer Ceremony for Fallen Service Members
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump participated in a solemn ceremony to honor four military personnel who lost their lives in the Middle East over the weekend.
The ceremony took place at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where the President, along with other notable figures, paid respects to Lt. Col. Tyler James Feehan, 25, Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, Sgt. Michael Emanuel Swinton, 30, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzalez, 19.
Feehan and Gonzalez lost their lives during an Iranian missile and drone strike on Jordan’s Muwafaq Salti Air Base. Rampersad was reported missing following the incident, later confirmed by the War Department to have died during the attack. Swinton died during a controlled explosion of a drone that had been shot down at Erbil Air Base in Iraq.
All of these events are currently under investigation.
Feehan hailed from Ewa Beach in Hawaii, Gonzalez was from Carrollton, Texas, Swinton was from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Rampersad was from Ozone Park, New York.
While en route to the Air Force base, Trump remarked that receiving the remains of fallen soldiers was “one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done as president.”
Upon his arrival at Dover Air Force Base, Trump took time to meet with the families of the deceased soldiers prior to the ceremony. He was seen saluting as each soldier was transferred from a C-17 to a vehicle at the base, standing alongside Army Secretary Pete Hegseth during the ceremony.
Attendees included Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine, acting U.S. Army Chief of Staff Christopher LaNeve, Chief of Naval Operations Darryl Caudle, and others from the White House and military leadership.
After the ceremony, Trump headed to Georgia, allowing Feehan’s family to join him on Air Force One. A representative from the White House noted that the family was set to travel back home with the President.
Additionally, on Monday, Trump expressed a strong commitment to addressing any actions by Iran that result in American fatalities, promising reparations “many times over” for each service member lost. He stated, “Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay the price for that killing many times over!” in a post on Truth Social. This directive was communicated to top military leaders and officials.
