President Trump's Approach to Counterterrorism Is to 'Complete the Mission'

During an interview on The Alex Marlowe Show, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to President Trump and Senior Counterterrorism Director, discussed measures being taken to combat terrorism and protect Americans, highlighting how terrorists often avoid large-scale operations.

“We’ve drafted a counterterrorism strategy for the president, and our goal, without going into specifics, is to get the job done,” he stated.

I don’t want to make it sound too harsh, but my aspiration is to see myself and my role become obsolete. Terrorism isn’t like facing nuclear warfare; it’s different. We’re talking about individuals armed with knives taking over planes or using vehicles as weapons. This isn’t a scenario involving thermonuclear threats from superpowers. Therefore, counterterrorism shouldn’t exactly be a strategic responsibility of the U.S. government. It should be handled with a semi-strategic mindset, managed alongside our allies and, if necessary, by law enforcement.

Gorka emphasized that the administration aims to prevent the U.S. from becoming embroiled in endless conflicts.

“We need to focus on the terms ‘get the job done.’ Next year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and we don’t want to enter into another perpetual war. We don’t plan on engaging in strategic counterterrorism 25 years from now,” he explained.

“So, we want to push forward and dismantle these organizations to a point where they don’t pose a challenge to the White House. That’s my vision. And with this president, it seems achievable,” Gorka said.

Earlier this year, Gorka provided insight into the restructuring of the nation’s approach to terrorism at the White House, detailing the establishment of President Trump’s Jihadist Elimination Unit.

A few weeks later, he recognized Trump’s 100th day in office through an op-ed for Breitbart News, outlining significant contrasts in terrorism policies between the current and previous administrations.

“The Biden administration seems to overlook the escalating threat of global jihad, targets individuals in Virginia simply for their faith, and ignores cases like that of Matthew Perna, who died due to persecution without any ties to terrorism. Rather than pursuing charges for terrorism, we are allowing those with American blood on their hands to evade justice,” he noted.
