Steak ‘n Shake Appoints MAHA Chief Executive
Steak ‘n Shake has named Michael Bose as its first Chief MAHA Officer, marking a shift towards healthier dining options. The restaurant aims to serve exclusively grass-fed beef by June 1.
The recent nomination of Dr. Nicole Safier for Surgeon General by President Donald Trump has highlighted divisions within the health-centric Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, a platform that Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. champions.
Podcaster Alex Clark from Turning Point USA commented that while Dr. Safier may have a strong pro-life message, she doesn’t align well with MAHA principles. Others in the movement, including anti-pesticide advocate “Glyphosate Girl,” echoed similar sentiments.
Another MAHA supporter, Bani Hari, also known as “Feed Babe,” expressed dissatisfaction, calling for Casey Means instead of Safier. She emphasized that straying from core values would compromise the essence of MAHA.
Confirmation Hearing Delays
Following the withdrawal of Dr. Janet Nesheiwat, Trump’s initial nominee for Surgeon General in 2025, Casey Means, a well-regarded physician and MAHA advocate, was selected. However, her nomination was recently withdrawn, and Dr. Nicole Safier, a radiologist, took her place as necessary approvals for a new policy change lagged.
President Trump made the announcement on his social media shortly before revealing that the hold-up was partly due to Means’ pregnancy and extensive vetting requirements. He previously referred to Means as a valuable asset to the MAHA movement.
Amid critiques, some accused Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana), who chairs the Senate’s health committee, of obstructing the nomination process for Means.
Concerns Over Nominee’s Perspectives
Concerns regarding Means’ qualifications and her stance on vaccines prolonged the process, leading insiders to doubt her chances of confirmation. Trump praised Safier as a capable communicator and someone who will contribute significantly to MAHA-focused policies.
On the other hand, the decision to nominate Safier prompted concerns among MAHA advocates. Clark described the choice as tremendous misjudgment, noting that Safier is notably pro-vaccine, even supporting hepatitis B vaccination at birth.
Meanwhile, some factions within the MAHA coalition aren’t as bothered about Means’ exit, with others expressing belief in Safier’s capacity to fulfill the role effectively.
Dr. Joseph Varon, who leads one of the aligned groups, stated that Safier represents exactly what the nation needs. Additionally, Dr. Robert Malone characterized her as a “moderate MAHA” figure, attempting to quell worries about her vaccine stance.
In a final note, Fox News Digital sought Safier’s views on the criticism regarding her vaccine skepticism but didn’t receive a response. White House Press Secretary Khush Desai highlighted Safier’s advocacy against invasive COVID-19 mandates, positioning her as a valuable asset in advancing the president’s MAHA initiatives.
