King Charles’ decision not to meet Prince Harry during his son’s visit to the UK this week was made after a series of “difficult” negotiations, according to a royal expert.
The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex returned to London on Tuesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Later that day, a representative for the ousted royal confirmed to the Post that Prince Harry would not be meeting his estranged father in London this week due to the monarch’s “packed” schedule.
But royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths said the monarch’s decision may have been influenced by “certain requests” from Prince Harry.
“There’s been talk that there was a lot of negotiation going on behind the scenes,” Griffiths said. told GB News.
“I think the reason for that was because Harry made certain demands about who was in the room and who wasn’t. Although on the surface it looks like he’s being disrespectful, Harry made things very difficult for his father. Ta.”
Asked to elaborate on the request, Mr Griffiths said “other forces” may have influenced the king’s decision.
“Maybe other forces are swaying Mr. Charles’ position on this issue,” she said. “William may have been thinking about how this meeting should be held, or whether it should be held at all.”
“We know that Prince Charles would prefer to meet in Prince Harry and Camilla’s room, but that’s not necessarily a popular decision,” she continued.
“This was difficult because Harry didn’t even have a wife.”
A representative for the duke said on Tuesday that a meeting between the estranged father and son duo “will not be possible due to Her Majesty’s complete planning.”
A spokesperson for Prince Harry added: “Of course, the Duke is aware of his father’s diary of his commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
The king’s busy schedule includes weekly audiences with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as well as the season’s first Buckingham Palace garden party and previous engagements.
Prince Harry’s visit to London is his first since February, when he visited his estranged father following the King’s cancer diagnosis, and after learning of his sister-in-law, Duchess Kate’s cancer diagnosis, in March. This will be my first trip.
On Wednesday, the father-of-two will give a reading at St Paul’s Cathedral in London to mark 10 years since the first Invictus Games were held in the capital.
‘Band of Brothers’ actor Damian Lewis will read a poem “Invictus” Written by William Ernest Henry, During Worship.
The estranged royal appears to be ignored by his entire family in the UK, with no meetings planned during his brief visit to London.
Not only that, but Prince Harry was forced to book hotel rooms in advance of his trip as he was not offered a bed at royal residences across the country.
