Two teenage victims at St. Ann’s School claim a teacher exploited school facilities to acquire nude photos of them, distributing these images during class as an act of “revenge porn,” according to a federal lawsuit that has emerged.
The teenagers, both 13 years old at the time, shared new revelations about Winston Nguyen, a convicted sex offender and ex-“Jeopardy” contestant who received a seven-year prison sentence last spring.
The lawsuit accuses the school and specific staff members of neglecting to investigate Nguyen’s background prior to hiring him and retaliating against anyone who tried to raise concerns. Intriguingly, Nguyen was appointed as a math teacher despite having previously served time for embezzling $300,000 from a blind elderly man.
“Even after Nguyen distributed explicit photos of Jane and Joan within the St. Ann’s community, the institution failed to assist the students or lessen the impact,” the complaint asserts. “To this day, there hasn’t been an apology from the school.”
The allegations detail how Nguyen manipulated his teenage targets using school resources, pretending to be teenage boys on social media. He sent them disturbing images of himself and made inappropriate requests for nude photos and videos, in addition to soliciting sexual acts.
After the girls blocked him, he retaliated by sending an extensive amount of revenge porn to other classmates during class, according to court documents from Brooklyn federal court.
Upon learning about these actions, the school met with the victims but allegedly took no supportive actions and did not report the matter to law enforcement, as stated in the lawsuit.
“St. Ann’s Church and its leadership have yet to be held responsible for carelessly employing Mr. Nguyen, repeatedly granting him authority, denying him supervision, and enabling him to use his access to commit these acts,” the complaint emphasizes.
