Priyanka Sewhani identified as Uber rider who died after falling from car

Police have identified a 32-year-old woman from Long Island as the Uber passenger who died Sunday after jumping out of a rideshare vehicle and being hit by another vehicle on the Long Island Expressway.

Oyster Bay resident Priyanka Sefani was pronounced dead at the scene after she “exited” an eastbound 2019 Volkswagen Passat while sitting in the back seat early Saturday morning, police said.

Authorities said Sefani exited his car near the Kissena Boulevard exit near Flushing and was “unknowingly” hit by another vehicle traveling in the left lane.

It is unclear why Sefani reportedly jumped from the car.

All four eastbound lanes were temporarily closed after the incident so New York City Police Department Highway Patrol could investigate.

An email sent to Uber Sunday night was not immediately answered.
