Michelle Dowie (née Moons), a former Breitbart News reporter and White House staffer, has spearheaded an effort to register Arab-American voters who are increasingly interested in Donald Trump.
As Breitbart News reported, some Muslim and Arab voters dissatisfied with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris hope Trump will bring peace back to the Middle East. And they are paying attention to Mr. Trump. Within the Arab American community as a whole, there are many different groups, including Christians from a variety of backgrounds.
Years before President Trump began his political career, Dowie warned that the issue was a major public concern in Breitbart News' reporting on immigration and told stories of conservative activists on the issue. contributed to setting it up.
She herself later married into an Arab-American family from the Syrian Orthodox community.
Dawi, who worked in the White House during President Trump's first term, noticed that some Arab immigrants had the potential to be a constituency for the former president, but were being overlooked. She acted independently of the Trump campaign and established a political action committee. Conservative America Middle East PAClaunched a voter registration effort.
Dawi is part of a grassroots effort to set up tables outside grocery stores and other public places in suburban Detroit to help Trump-supporting Arab Americans register to vote and learn where their polling places are located. is providing funding.
“There are hundreds of thousands of Chaldean Americans… [in] Oakland County, Michigan. There are Albanians and Christians there. Most of them are what I call low-hanging fruit. They're pro-Trump conservatives, but they're not registered to vote,” Dowie said.
“My team is feeling a huge response,” she added.
“A lot of them don't want Harris. They want her to lose. Some of them… [Green Party candidate Jill] Mr. Stein believes that there is room to persuade Mr. Trump. And that may cause us to cross the line. ”
Many of the issues that Arab American voters care about aren't foreign policy, but just basic issues, particularly those related to small business, Dawi said.
“We really think we can win Michigan. … We agree on important issues. … More and more Arab Americans are showing support for Trump.”
