A representative from Rhode Island recently made headlines for what seemed like a threat against federal immigration agents, referring to them as the “Nazi Gestapo.”
Rep. Enrique Sanchez took to social media after attending business in Providence on July 13th to express his sentiments.
“A day is coming when we will confront these Nazi ice thugs directly for the fear they’ve instilled in our community,” he wrote.
“This morning, the Nazi Gestapo ice thugs targeted another neighbor in Providence,” Sanchez posted. “This time, they damaged multiple vehicles owned by residents on Alverson St. I think they operate outside the law. This act of terror is unacceptable, and I’m demanding action tomorrow.”
Interestingly, the individuals identified as “neighbors” by Sanchez were reportedly members of the violent MS-13 gang, according to an ICE source. Allegations were made that the damage occurred while gang members attempted to escape and assaulted ICE vehicles.
When questioned by Wjar-TV about the accused criminal background of the individuals, Sanchez seemed open to admitting faults in the situation but continued to support his Nazi Germany comparison.
He further emphasized his stance during a subsequent post, stating, “We will not retreat; it’s a day for accountability against these Nazi ice thugs because they’ve terrorized our community. We need the support of the people of Providence and Rhode Island in our efforts to bring about change.”
In response to inquiries for clarification on his remarks, Sanchez didn’t reply directly but shared a social media post asking, “What kind of clarification is needed? Will this administration condemn the actions and violence that ice thugs inflict on individuals trying to improve their lives?”
