Protesters against Israel taken into custody at Schumer and Gillibrand's NYC offices

Protesters opposing Israel were arrested after storming the lobby of the offices belonging to New York Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. The NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital that the arrests occurred during what appeared to be an “unplanned demonstration” at 780 Third Avenue.

The demonstrators, dressed in black and yellow, held signs with various slogans. Notably, some of their chants called directly on Schumer and Gillibrand to “stop the hungry Gaza,” while others proclaimed, “Free Palestine, stop genocide.” Among the activists present was Sarah Ramirez, an actor known for roles in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Just That Way,” as reported by Reuters.

At this time, the specific number of arrests has not been disclosed by the NYPD.

Earlier in the week, Schumer publicly expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, advocating for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. He stated that images and reports from Gaza reveal “catastrophic levels of hunger, starvation, suffering and death,” stressing that the human costs of the ongoing conflict are entirely unacceptable.

On another note, President Donald Trump recently mentioned to Axios that he is working on a plan to assist Gaza, particularly focusing on providing food and other humanitarian support. However, he also indicated that he holds Hamas responsible for the situation. Trump remarked on the value of the work being done by humanitarian efforts and noted that he had not received a recent briefing from a special envoy.

Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador Mike Huckabee and special envoy Steve Witkov visited an aid distribution site supported by the US and Israel, run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Huckabee claimed the foundation has delivered aid to over 100 million people in just two months, despite challenges posed by Hamas, which he alleged has been diverting aid for its own purposes.

Huckabee noted the chaotic nature of the situation, pointing out that there’s evidence of aid being pilfered and sold on the black market, with basic items like sugar fetching exorbitant prices. Witkov described their five-hour visit to Gaza as an effort to assess conditions and assist in forming a clear plan for humanitarian aid delivery.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the NYPD as well as the offices of Schumer and Gillibrand for further comment.
