During a Graduates Day event in Harvard Yard on Friday, protesters disrupted a speech by Harvard Interim President Alan Garber, throwing green glitter all over him as he spoke.

Gerber was appointed after the resignation of Claudine Gay, whose short tenure was marred by anti-Semitism evasions and an earlier academic plagiarism scandal. As Gerber began to speak, a woman approached him, yelling about a “monkey lab” and throwing green powder at him. Gerber ducked but otherwise did not respond.
Pro-Palestinian protesters then interrupted Garber’s remarks, leading to booing from some of the alumni in attendance.
Last week’s Harvard University graduation ceremony was marred by a speech that included anti-Semitic remarks.
Some Jewish alumni are boycotting the event in protest of what they see as Harvard’s weak response to anti-Semitism on campus.
Harvard is one of several universities under investigation by the U.S. House of Representatives and the Department of Education’s Civil Rights Division, which has taken no action.
Following the October 7 terror attacks, dozens of Harvard student groups blamed Israel for the violence. An “encampment” was set up on Harvard campus in recent weeks, but was only removed after the university caved in to many of their demands.
