A longtime utility regulator announced Thursday his candidacy for North Dakota’s only U.S. House seat.

Fedorchak told a room packed with Republican state officials, lawmakers and party members at Republican headquarters in Bismarck that he would focus on energy, agriculture and the nation’s fiscal health. She will use the knowledge she gained from her work on regulatory commissions to “support energy policy that reins in runaway engines and recognizes the fundamental role that energy plays in public safety and the economy.” I would like to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee.” And she’s national security. ”

“The simple principles we follow in North Dakota are the same fundamentals that have worked well across our state government and are helping us overcome the many challenges facing our nation,” Fedorchak said.

In North Dakota, Republican U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong, who was first elected in 2018, is running for governor, making it a close race for a U.S. House seat.

Other Republican House candidates include former state Rep. Rick Becker, a plastic surgeon, and former state Sen. Tom Campbell, a potato farmer.

Democrat Trygv Hamer, a military veteran, is also running. Democrats have not won a statewide election in North Dakota since 2012.

North Dakota’s powerful Republican Party plans to endorse candidates for statewide office and Congressional seats at its convention in Fargo in April. Voters in the June primary will nominate candidates for November.

Fedorchak told reporters he plans to seek Republican support at the convention, but will run in the primary.
