Putin Praises Trump’s Peace Efforts

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently commended President Donald Trump for his endeavors in global peace negotiations, particularly highlighting Trump’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

During a summit with leaders of former Soviet states in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Putin remarked, “He is really making a lot of efforts to resolve such a complex crisis that has been going on for years, even decades.” This comment was made in response to a question regarding whether Trump deserved to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded that same day to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Colina Machado.

Putin expressed skepticism about the Nobel Committee’s decisions, stating, “There are cases where the committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to people who have not contributed anything to peace. People come, for better or for worse, [gets it] A month later, two months later, boom. For what? He did absolutely nothing.” He went on to say that these choices damage the award’s prestige.

In September, Trump hinted at the possibility of being overlooked for the Nobel nomination again, despite having played a role in resolving several conflicts. “If this goes well, we’ll have eight ships in eight months, which is pretty good,” he told a gathering of generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia, adding, “No one has ever done that. Will I get a Nobel Prize? Absolutely not.”

Trump continued by suggesting that a future prize might be awarded to someone who merely writes about his mindset and approach to conflict resolution, rather than for tangible contributions to peace. “I’d give it to someone who didn’t do anything,” he said, implying that the award might be more about narratives than real achievements.
