Former National Security Adviser John Bolton said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Source” that Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are former Donald Trump The president said he thought it was an “easy mark” and said he was “well prepared.” Take advantage of “
“I don’t think President Trump is capable of making decisions based on national security,” Bolton said. “His attention span is short. He doesn’t know much about world history or world affairs. He thinks personal relationships with foreign leaders, especially authoritarian leaders, are all important. And he thinks personal relationships and international affairs are important. But when you get into a situation like what we’re seeing in the Middle East right now, those things become irrelevant.”
Anchor Caitlan Collins said: “Basically you think that these relationships with President Putin or Xi Jinping or Kim Jong Un are going to save him when it comes to actual policy and the power dynamics of the country. “You’re saying that you’re thinking about it,” he said. What good is that about those relationships, even though you claim they don’t? ”
Bolton said, “I think tough figures in history like Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping understand what their job is for their respective countries. President Trump is a president’s job for us. I don’t think they understand what Donald Trump is about, having been in the room with him in meetings with these people and listened to his phone conversations. I don’t think it’s really friendly. I think Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un and others think he’s a fool who laughs at him and is fully prepared to take advantage of him. Trump is so self-absorbed that he can’t understand that.”
Collins asked, “So you think they’d be happy to have him back in the Oval Office?”
“Yeah, I think they believe he’s vulnerable to being marked,” Bolton said.
