Rachel DeMita shares her surprise over being let go from Big3: 'Caught off guard'

Rachel Demita is no longer associated with Big 3.

On Friday, Demita shared that she was officially let go, following her comments about Caitlin Clark during a Big 3 broadcast last Saturday.

In a straightforward video aimed at her followers, she expressed feeling somewhat blindsided by the events.

“The rumors you’ve heard are correct; I was fired from Big 3,” she stated at the start of her video. “Yes, I was released just this week.”

Demita mentioned that Big 3’s posts on X included remarks about her commentary during the WNBA game between the Liberty and Fever.

During that game, Caitlin Clark delivered an impressive performance with 32 points, along with nine assists and eight rebounds, leading her team to a significant victory over the previously undefeated team.

Demita read a letter from the Big 3 indicating they were “disappointed” with her focus on Clark during the live event.

In the same letter, the league cited her failure to promote “the only league game” as part of the reasoning for her dismissal.

She argued that she had other social media posts related to other topics, not just that particular game.

“Before being let go, I was unaware that there was any prior conversation about my tweets,” she shared. “No one had brought it up, and I didn’t think those tweets would harm Big 3 in any serious way.”

Demita noted that she had not heard any discussions before her termination.

She acknowledged, “I’m not making excuses; I’ll own up to my mistake and apologize.” However, she did express a wish that there had been some dialogue before the decision was made.

The league seems to interpret her tweets as a conflict of interest.

Caitlin Clark, who is now a notable player in the WNBA, reportedly turned down a past offer from Big 3.

Furthermore, Demita highlighted that she had not yet signed a contract for the upcoming Big 3 season, as discussions were still ongoing, and her agents were negotiating in good faith.
