Rashee Rice to participate in first four Chiefs games as NFL disciplinary hearing approaches

At this point, the Chief is doing everything possible to fill Life Stadium.

The NFL is set to conduct a disciplinary hearing on September 30 regarding a high-speed multi-car accident in Dallas from March 2024, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday. This incident resulted in injuries to several individuals.

This decision likely means that the wide receivers can participate in the first four games of the season, including the highly-anticipated Sunday Night Football game against the Giants on September 21.

Laci Rice, the 25-year-old wide receiver, pled guilty to two third-degree felony charges and was sentenced to 30 days in July by a Dallas County judge.

If he successfully completes probation, the charges will be dismissed.

Drafted in the second round in 2023, Rice is now the Chiefs’ top receiver, taking precedence over Xavier Worthy and Juju Smith Schuster. His expected suspension will leave a notable gap in the roster.

As it stands, quarterback Patrick Mahomes can rely on all other key pass catchers for 2025, including Travis Kelce, Hollywood Brown, and Jalen Royals.

“Right now, all I can control is my performance on the field, and that’s what I’m focused on,” Rice mentioned at the start of August. “I’ve realized how precious opportunities are. It’s a privilege to be guided by great coaches like Andy Reid.”

“I’ve undergone significant personal growth. It’s essential to learn from past mistakes and leverage those lessons.”

A potential multi-game suspension from the NFL remains a concern following the disciplinary hearing regarding his conduct policies.

“This is my profession, and it’s what I aspire to. Even if I can’t be with my teammates, I’ll strive to rejoin them as soon as possible,” Rice said.

He had a stellar rookie season with 79 receptions, seven touchdowns, and 938 yards, but his second season was cut short due to a torn collateral ligament, resulting in only 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns over four games.
