Trump’s Military Parade Set for June 14
President Donald Trump is organizing a military parade next Saturday to honor both military veterans and active service members, all in celebration of the military’s birthday. This parade is notably scheduled for June 14, which marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, Flag Day, and, coincidentally, Trump’s own birthday.
Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) has announced that flights will be suspended during the parade. This decision is tied to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) measures meant to coordinate air traffic around the event, particularly for aircraft overpasses and fireworks.
A spokesperson from the FAA indicated that they have collaborated with the Department of Defense to finalize a plan detailing the types and numbers of aircraft involved in the parade. Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) will be implemented in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure safety during the celebrations. The FAA plans to enact a Traffic Management Initiative (TMI) to regulate air traffic before, during, and after the event, which might cause a complete halt to all arrivals and departures at peak times.
Participants planning to fly are urged to use the DC Metro Rail to get to the airport, as road closures around DCA could extend travel times. It’s worth mentioning that, due to ongoing construction and events, there won’t be any fireworks viewing.
The parade will kick off at 6:30 PM and will wrap up by 9:30 PM. Attendees should be prepared for potential delays stemming from road closures and increased pedestrian traffic. The parade route will be along Constitutional Avenue NW, between 15th and 23rd Avenue.
This celebration will feature historic reenactors from the U.S. Army, period equipment and vehicles, as well as military bands. According to America250, the purpose of the event is to highlight the modern capabilities of the Army and to inspire a new generation with the spirit of service and resilience that America embodies.
