The player apologised for using “horrible language”.
“During tonight’s game I used some really bad language in response to the fans,” he said Sunday night.
“It pains me to think about how many people I have offended and disappointed. I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization and most importantly to the LGBTQ community. Our young fans should be able to look up to me as a role model and tonight I fell completely short of that responsibility. I will use this opportunity to educate myself and my teammates and grow as people.”
Duran explained on Monday that he was upset by the hecklers, saying, “They were heckling me the whole time, so I got carried away and said things I shouldn’t have said.”
Apparently, the apology wasn’t enough for the team.
Duran will serve his two-game suspension, which begins Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers.
Also, Announced According to CBS News, he plans to donate his salary from the two games he will be forced to miss to a gay organization called PFLAG (Pride of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).
“Some of our fans have reached out to me and told me they’re disappointed in me, and I wanted to let them know that I regret my actions and I’m going to try to do better,” Duran said Monday in the Red Sox locker room.
While many agreed with the apology and suspension, others felt it was proof America was too woke to apologize.
Stop it! Anyone who goes to a game and abuses the people playing there needs to be able to live with it.
People these days are such wimps.

It didn’t matter if he bent his knee too far back and broke it. He’d definitely get suspended.
Kids, remember to never apologize

Apologies always make me angry! Stand your ground!

Everybody’s too offended these days.
Will fans go berserk and athletes be forced to just sit back and endure?
Surely they have to take the heat if they want to be in the game!
All is fair.
