Joy Reid Questions J.D. Vance’s Marriage Choices on Podcast
On the podcast “I’ve Had It,” former MSNBC host Joy Reid raised a provocative question about Vice President J.D. Vance. She wondered if Vance might be considering finding a new wife, perhaps to better connect with his MAGA supporters, given his Indian-American background. It seems Reid is skeptical about Vance being a viable successor to Donald Trump come 2028, suggesting that the MAGA crowd may not embrace someone like Usha Vance as first lady.
“A MAGA successor can’t be a man with a brown Hindu wife,” she stated. “They’re also Christian nationalists. That just wouldn’t fly. Poor Usha; it’s like she’s being thrown under the bus, or maybe she’ll just have to go along with it.”

Reid’s commentary took an even stranger turn when discussing Vance’s interactions with a co-host named Erica Kirk. She described an awkward moment when Kirk hugged Vance. “It was bizarre—she’s all over him,” Reid said, expressing disbelief at how that could be seen as appropriate. Reid went on to criticize Kirk for wearing leather pants, declaring that wasn’t what a widow would wear.
Speculation on Political Moves
In a rather cheeky suggestion, Reid implied that Vance might leave Usha for Kirk as a strategic move to strengthen his image with the MAGA base. “If we start to realize that he needs a white queen instead of this brown Hindu, wouldn’t that fit into a MAGA fairy tale?” she mused. “I mean, I’m not saying that’s definitely happening, and maybe Usha isn’t part of that thought process.”
Vance’s Silence in Response
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House, J.D. Vance’s team, and Turning Point USA for comments, but there was no immediate response.
Interestingly, Reid’s discussion comes after her show was canceled by MSNBC earlier this year, which recently rebranded as MS NOW. She now runs “The Joy Reid Show” on YouTube.
