Remarkable 911 call made public following small plane crash on Florida highway that struck a vehicle

Recently released 911 audio has captured the startling aftermath of a plane crash-landing on a busy highway in Florida. The incident involved a fixed-wing Beechcraft 55 attempting an emergency landing on Interstate 95 at around 5:45 p.m. on Monday due to engine issues, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

During this tense moment, the plane ended up colliding with a 2023 Toyota Camry that had skidded onto the road. Witnesses recounted the frightening scene in the newly released 911 calls.

One caller exclaimed, “A plane just crashed on I-95,” adding that those on the aircraft seemed to be moving around inside. The dispatcher, trying to confirm, asked, “You mean the plane, right? From the sky?” The woman clarified, “The plane hit a car while landing on Interstate 95.”

Another witness described the fearsome sight, saying, “I saw him coming down and I slammed on the brakes. I was in the far left lane, and it came right next to me and hit a small white car.”

The pilot, a 27-year-old from Orlando, and a passenger, also 27, from Temple Terrace, managed to escape the incident without injuries. However, a 57-year-old woman driving the Camry was taken to the hospital with minor injuries noted.

A man who called 911 observed that the plane had already removed its landing gear but appeared to be under control during the descent. The unsettling accident raised questions about safety and the unexpected challenges faced by small aircraft.
