Renee Rapp Criticizes ICE and Trump During Portland Concert
Actress and singer Renee Rapp made headlines during a concert in Portland, Oregon, on Monday by expressing her disdain for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and President Donald Trump with an intense, expletive-laden speech.
Performing at the Moda Center, Rapp condemned recent ICE raids happening in Portland, a moment that gained traction on TikTok after being shared by a former CNN journalist.
“Let’s just be clear: F— ICE, F— this administration. F— Trump,” she declared from the stage, prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Her remarks resonated with Portland’s anti-ICE sentiment as she noted, “We’re very, very, very excited to be here with you guys. You’re great people. And it just so happens that at the same time we’re here, there are people here who shouldn’t be here.”
Meanwhile, the city has seen ongoing violent confrontations between anti-ICE demonstrators and police forces outside local ICE facilities. Camilla Wamsley, who leads ICE’s Portland office, reported earlier this month that the facility had faced over 100 consecutive nights of unrest with minimal police presence, allegedly due to orders from Mayor Ted Wheeler and the City Council.
Wamsley detailed that the protests had escalated beyond chants and placards, mentioning incidents of bottle rockets and rocks being fired at buildings, lasers aimed at officers, and barricades set up obstructing traffic.
In response, the Trump administration attempted to deploy the National Guard to manage the unrest. However, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut halted this decision, describing it as “out of touch with reality” and warning that it could blur the lines between civilian and military powers.
Local authorities have criticized Trump’s intervention plan, labeling his portrayal of Portland as exaggerated and declaring that federal police presence was unnecessary.
Renee Rapp isn’t alone in her opposition to ICE; other artists, including country singer Zach Bryan, stirred controversy recently with anti-ICE lyrics in his song “Bad News.”
The debate reached Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who condemned Bryan’s song as disrespectful to law enforcement and the country.
In a separate incident, fellow country artist Brian Andrews voiced his opposition to ICE’s actions in a viral TikTok, calling out those who identify as Christians yet support policies that separate families.
DHS did not reply promptly to requests for comment about the ongoing discussions.
