Rep. Jim Clyburn argues that Joe Biden’s declining support among African-American voters isn’t due to his performance or handling of issues.

During the interview MSNBC On Wednesday, Rep. Clyburn (D.C.) accused the media of not reporting on what is really going on in the country, which he argues is causing problems.

“This is all due to misunderstandings and disinformation and it’s something that I find very disturbing, so we have to be very careful,” he said. “We know the power of the media … they keep repeating these things instead of reporting what’s actually going on, and that’s what’s causing the problems.”

He also sought to shore up Biden’s record among Black voters, even as recent polling has shown his support among them is down 17 percentage points compared to November 2020.

Clyburn’s assertions come as the Trump campaign significantly increased its outreach to Black communities during this election cycle, with polls showing the former president’s approval ratings are on track to improve compared to 2020.
