Rep Nancy Mace submits a motion to remove Rep Cory Mills from Congress

Congress members turn to personal insults rather than focusing on lawmaking

Democrats to Consider Expelling FEMA Over Alleged Fraud

Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna recently joined Kayleigh McEnany to discuss a House motion to expel fellow Democratic Representative Sheila Charfilas McCormick, who faces accusations of misappropriating $5 million in FEMA funds to support a lavish lifestyle. Luna also reacted to former President Donald Trump’s backing of linking a voter ID bill to FISA, as well as his hint at an imminent release of “interesting” UFO documents.

In a related context, the House may soon revisit expulsion votes. Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) indicated she intends to pursue the removal of a troubled Republican, Representative Cory Mills from Florida. Mace introduced a motion against Mills on Monday, claiming he has misrepresented his military background, engaged in sexual misconduct, violated campaign finance laws, and improperly participated in federal contracts during his congressional tenure.

As the expulsion efforts unfold, it was reported that Mills is working on a counter-resolution to remove Mace from her position. The allegations against Mills have raised eyebrows, with some suggesting they warrant serious attention.

Sexual Harassment Records under Scrutiny

A spokesperson for Mills did not provide immediate comments regarding Mace’s resolution targeting him. In a statement shared on social media, Mace, who is campaigning for the governorship in South Carolina, asserted that “as a survivor, I will always stand up and right the wrongs of others,” implying that Mills may feel threatened by her actions.

Mills has come under fire for a string of scandals, including accusations related to blackmail and assault. Despite these claims, no formal charges have been laid against him. He is looking to secure a third term in the House this November, with Trump supporting his re-election.

The likelihood of Mace’s resolution passing is unclear since it requires a two-thirds majority vote to expel any member of Congress.

Concerns Over Mills’ Conduct

Interestingly, other lawmakers have largely refrained from demanding Mills’ ouster, although they have expressed unease regarding the serious nature of his allegations. When asked if she would back the removal of Mills, Luna commented that she applies the same standards to all Congress members, regardless of party affiliation, when there’s evidence of wrongdoing.

Additionally, McCormick is anticipated to support expulsion unless she resigns. The House Ethics Committee is scheduled to review her case, where she’s accused of violating numerous ethics rules, alongside facing separate federal charges.

Some recent resignations, including Representatives Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas), seemed to be linked to the pressures of potentially facing expulsion votes. Both had been embroiled in serious allegations of misconduct.

Previous Clashes and Ongoing Investigations

This upcoming vote isn’t the first conflict between Mace and Mills on the House floor. Notably, a previous attempt to strip Mills of committee assignments was overwhelmingly rejected in 2025.

Despite the controversies surrounding Mills, House Republican leaders have continued to support him. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) mentioned that further action should be reserved until the ethics committee completes its investigations, which reportedly include claims of sexual misconduct and dating violence. However, the committee has not provided an estimated timeline for concluding its review.
