Two Offenders Charged with Serious Crimes in Chicago
In Chicago, two individuals with troubling criminal histories are facing serious charges, including attempted murder, sexual abuse, and aggravated assault.
The first individual, Curtis Porter, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Tuesday in a CTA elevator at the Jackson Red Line station. Reports indicate that Porter, who has been arrested 14 times in the past, allegedly followed the woman into the elevator and even blocked surveillance cameras during the incident. The victim reported that he exposed himself and then assaulted her.
Following the assault, the CTA and police shared Porter’s image widely. Hours later, a CTA supervisor recognized him and notified patrolling officers, leading to his arrest. Judge Shauna Boliker ordered him to remain in custody without bail.
Court records show that Porter’s previous arrests mainly involved misdemeanors, most of which were dismissed. His past includes a 2019 domestic assault case that did not end well and a couple of trespassing charges that resulted in a brief jail sentence.
The second suspect, 21-year-old Brianna Bush, is already on probation for a separate robbery incident. According to reports, she has been charged with attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault following a stabbing of a 24-year-old man. Officials stated that the incident occurred during a confrontation on the Red Line on January 5, where Bush allegedly stabbed the victim before fleeing. Although the man was injured, he was taken to the hospital and is said to be in good condition.
Judge Luciano Panici Jr. ordered Bush into custody at the request of state officials. In a previous robbery case from July 2024, Bush was reportedly caught on surveillance punching a sleeping man on the train and stealing his phone, leading to her arrest shortly afterward.
These cases exemplify ongoing concerns about repeat offenders and public safety on public transportation in the city.
