Report Indicates Letitia James’ ‘Fugitive’ Niece Resides in Virginia House Involved in Mortgage Fraud Case

Report Indicates Letitia James' 'Fugitive' Niece Resides in Virginia House Involved in Mortgage Fraud Case

A Virginia home linked to the mortgage fraud indictment involving New York Attorney General Letitia James is currently occupied by her niece, who is reportedly on the run.

On October 9, a grand jury in Virginia indicted James for allegedly misrepresenting her mortgage application, claiming the house was a secondary residence to secure a lower rate. Generally, mortgage rates are higher for rental properties, but that seems to be the reality here.

What’s particularly eyebrow-raising is that the state’s top law enforcement official appears to be letting her niece, Nakia Thompson, and Thompson’s three children live in the Virginia home since 2020.

The niece’s status as a fugitive stems from misdemeanor convictions in North Carolina for offenses like assault and battery. These were tied to suspended sentences, and Thompson reportedly skipped out on her probation terms. If she’s located in North Carolina, she could be taken into custody.

So… if these allegations hold any truth, it suggests that James committed fraud on her mortgage application. And if the reports are accurate, she seems to be protecting individuals wanted by law enforcement.

This may only scratch the surface of the mortgage issues facing her. A forensic accountant hinted there are two other properties tied to similar fraud claims.

It’s quite troubling. James campaigned on the obligation to use her office to challenge Trump, and the situation seems to be backfiring spectacularly. Now, not only is she potentially guilty of the same offenses she aimed to expose, but she’s also accused of harboring a fugitive.

The perception is that it’s reached a point where political allies protect each other, insulated from accountability.

It really seems like the guiding principle for many is an aversion to the average person.
