Republican candidate for governor suggests a 'sin tax' on OnlyFans in Florida

Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Proposes Tax on OnlyFans Creators

A Republican hopeful for the Florida governor’s seat has suggested a substantial “sin tax” on OnlyFans creators if he wins the election. James Fishback expressed his views in a recent statement, stating that it’s troubling how young women are being influenced by platforms like OnlyFans.

“Young women used to dream of being devoted mothers or pursuing careers in fields like medicine or law,” Fishback told FOX News Digital. “Now, they seem to think selling nude photos online is acceptable.” He vowed that as Florida’s next Republican governor, he wouldn’t stand for what he called cultural decline.

Fishback anticipates that his income tax proposal could raise around $200 million, which he plans to funnel into the state’s education system. He mentioned his intentions to support crisis pregnancy centers and provide mental health resources tailored for men. “It’s a falsehood that men are to blame for all social issues,” he added during a conversation with podcaster Joel Webbon.

Fishback also remarked that he doesn’t want young women, who could otherwise be nurturing families, to feel compelled to sell their bodies online. He expressed concern that young men may stray from their values and become drawn into harmful behaviors.

He further mentioned that he is considering a tax on OnlyFans subscribers as well. The conversation about these proposed taxes sparked responses from content creators like Sophie Laing, who called the idea “ridiculous.” She emphasized that her decision to join OnlyFans was hers alone and that she feels supported in her choices.

Another creator, Piper Fawn, criticized Fishback’s proposal, suggesting he’s enforcing personal beliefs rather than respecting individual freedoms. “He’s categorizing this as a sin, which is questionable,” she noted, adding that if his aim is genuinely to improve society, other issues might deserve more immediate attention than targeting content creators.

Fishback concluded by challenging those who sell content online: “You have two options: either contribute significantly to the state’s revenue or reconsider your choices.” Meanwhile, Fox News Digital has sought a comment from OnlyFans regarding the situation.
