The Republican challenger to New York’s Democratic Attorney General Letitia James has criticized her alliance with Zoran Mamdani, a far-left candidate running for mayor, stating that it poses a risk to voters in New York. Michael Henry, in an interview, noted that James has a history with the Working Families Party, indicating long-standing support for cashless policies, which he believes aligns her with Mamdani’s viewpoints.
James recently addressed a gathering of 3,000 Mamdani backers following her recent legal troubles regarding mortgage fraud, asserting a sense of unity against outside attacks. Henry pointed out that this close connection might not bode well for her image, suggesting that many perceive her as “out of touch,” a potential issue for her moving forward.
In a rather blunt assessment, Henry remarked on James’ personal endorsement of Mamdani, claiming, “She’s putting the people of New York at risk,” while also expressing concern about Mamdani’s lack of professional experience in critical situations that a mayor would handle. He did not hold back, labeling Mamdani as a “failed actor” and questioning his readiness to manage city crises.
As James rallies support for Mamdani, she positioned him as the type of leader that New York City needs, especially as he gains traction in the mayoral race. Henry, who previously ran against James in 2020 with a notable vote share for a Republican, insists it’s time for New Yorkers to elect someone who is willing to challenge the status quo.
He expressed that James seems preoccupied with various political actions rather than focusing on the community’s pressing concerns, commenting that she has forgotten her duty to serve the people rather than her party’s agenda.
