Alina Haba Challenges New Jersey Judges and Promises to Fight Back
Former federal prosecutor Jim Trusty spoke on recent investigations linking Tarshi Gabbard to Russia and the ongoing efforts for Alina Haba to succeed as New Jersey’s attorney once her interim term concludes.
Scott Pressler, a Republican activist, is actively working on voter registration and boosting turnout in New Jersey, aiming to flip the governor’s seat in November. He highlighted the 2024 election, noting that although Trump had lost New Jersey, the numbers suggested potential for Republicans in future contests.
“Many people perceive New Jersey as a blue state,” he mentioned. However, he pointed out Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican candidate who narrowly lost the gubernatorial race in 2021 by around 84,000 votes. Pressler believes there’s an appetite among voters that transcends party lines.
Rep. Mikie Cheryl has emerged as the Democratic candidate in this year’s gubernatorial primary, setting the stage for a significant matchup as she seeks to follow Phil Murphy, who is wrapping up two terms.
Pressler emphasized that his team is diverse and is making strides to reach various communities across New Jersey, aiming for increased voter participation, particularly in traditionally Republican areas. He also mentioned engagement with communities including Jews, Muslims, Hispanics, and Black Americans.
He expressed his belief that the “America First” approach resonates with many, suggesting a shift in focus towards domestic needs rather than global concerns. “We should invest in our own infrastructure; it’s time to prioritize American citizens,” he stated.
Pressler explained that his strategy involves mobilizing voters in rural regions to sway the election outcomes. “In an election decided by just 84,000 votes before, every single voter matters,” he stressed.
The upcoming races could provide insight into the political climate leading up to the midterms and the 2028 presidential election. Activists have noted that advocating for major Trump policies—like significant tax changes for tipped workers—could play a critical role in the state’s political landscape.
Political engagement in New Jersey is ramping up ahead of the general election on November 4th, with Virginia also holding a gubernatorial election this year.
