Republican presidential candidates have spent more than $167 million in defeats to defeat former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire and Iowa, and will spend millions more in the upcoming primaries. It's a plan.
The huge amount of money spent in the first two primaries of the 2024 cycle shows how strong grassroots support for former President Donald Trump is across the country. Trump spent just $34.1 million in both states.
The huge amount of money also reveals the amount of resources Republicans have not spent on defeating President Joe Biden.
“Campaign officials say that if Haley does not drop out after New Hampshire, Power They want Trump to spend resources against her in South Carolina over the next three weeks, rather than focusing on politically vulnerable states, according to CNN.
Below is the advertising spending of Republican primary candidates' campaigns and outside groups in New Hampshire (CNN) calculated:
- Haley supporters: $31 million
- Trump supporters: $15.8 million
- Other: $31 million
In Iowa, Haley spent 2 million more than Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), the most of any candidate. Both represent more than half of the total $123 million in advertising between Republican candidates since Monday, CNN reported.
- Haley supporter: $37 million
- DeSantis supporters: $35 million
- Trump supporters: $18.3 million
- Other: $33.2 million
Moving on to Nevada and South Carolina, Republican campaigns and PACs spent more than $123 million, CNN reported.
No campaigns or outside groups are airing in Nevada. Haley's campaign will not participate in the state-sponsored caucuses on February 8, instead opting for the state-sponsored primary on February 6. But only the caucuses will be used to decide delegate allocation for this summer's Republican convention.
And in South Carolina, where the next major race will be held on February 24th, only one organization is actively spending money. Americans for Prosperity Action is the super PAC arm of the Koch family political network and is backing Haley.
After the New Hampshire primary, Trump has a lead of more than 30 points in each state.
