Rescuers in Ukraine pull 5 puppies from the rubble of a building destroyed by fire

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian emergency workers pulled five puppies out from under the rubble of a destroyed building, a video released by the country’s emergency services showed on Friday.

Officials said the puppies were rescued from a fire in a non-residential building in the northeastern city of Sumy, near the Russian border. Video showed the puppies shrieking as firefighters cradled them in their hands and rinsed them with water.

It was not immediately clear when the rescue took place or the cause of the fire.

“Fortunately, the little ones were fine and uninjured. The fur was returned to the mother,” officials said in a post on the emergency service’s Telegram channel.
