Retired General Jack Keane Indicates That Iran’s Response to Israel So Far Provides One Positive Sign

Retired General Discusses Israel-Iran Tensions

Retired Army General Jack Keene spoke on Fox News about the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran after Iran launched a missile strike in response to Israeli attacks. On Thursday, Israeli forces targeted Iranian leaders, including officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and nuclear scientists, among other military sites.

During his appearance on “The Story with Martha McCallum,” Keene described the initial Iranian missile attack, which involved around 100 ballistic missiles. However, he noted that only a few managed to breach Israeli defenses. “Israel’s strategy seemed to involve shifting targets from previous months, focusing on air bases and civilian areas. Looking at the evidence, the second wave of 50 missiles was less effective. This indicates the difficulties Iran faces in positioning those launchers,” Keene remarked, suggesting that Israeli operations inside Iran are ongoing.

He expressed that Israel anticipates further responses following their latest strikes. Keene emphasized, “The nature of the attack on Iran is significant. Israel aimed to neutralize air defense systems that weren’t dealt with earlier.” He pointed out that success against these systems is crucial for diminishing command and control capabilities.

Reflecting on Iran’s missiles, Keene recalled the previous situation in October, when Iran had launched 200 missiles, and acknowledged that Israeli defense measures had been tested then. “In that instance, the Israeli defense system overwhelmed the missiles using a multi-layered approach,” he noted, suggesting that recent strikes have focused on disabling many missile launchers.

Keene continued to highlight the gravity of the situation, stating that while Iran’s first retaliation wave involved around 100 missiles, only a fraction managed to reach their targets. Reports indicate that Iran’s missile response caused several explosions across Israel, though Israeli interceptors successfully neutralized many incoming threats, resulting in a few injuries.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed a strong stance, stating he is prepared to bomb Iran until the perceived threat is eliminated. In a lengthy speech, he criticized the Iranian government for its aggressive actions and highlighted concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, suggesting they could potentially develop atomic weapons.

Former President Trump also commented on Israel’s actions, emphasizing that while the U.S. was aware of the situation, it was not directly involved. He reiterated that Iran must not obtain nuclear capabilities and hinted at hoping to revive negotiation discussions in the future.
