Rex Chapman asks media to cover Ohio, not Trump shooter

Former NBA player Rex Chapman said he would rather the media cover the case of Haitian immigrants in Ohio than cover the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Chapman, who played 13 seasons in the NBA from 1988 to 2000, is an ardent anti-Trump supporter and has consistently called the former president ” Racist.

After Haitian immigrants were recently accused of eating local animals in Springfield, Ohio, Chapman said he hoped the incident would receive more media attention than the assassination attempt on President Trump in Florida.

“Media, go to Springfield and report the news there, not on a golf course in Florida. We're watching,” Chapman posted. X.

“Trump and especially J.D. Vance are making up racist lies.”

Chapman Denied He claimed “political violence” in relation to the assassination attempt on Trump, but also equated it with the idea that Trump's “lies” are leading to “bomb threats to hospitals and elementary schools.”

Chapman joined the Miami Heat, his teammate from 1995 to 1996, in supporting Haitian immigrants. The Heat released a lengthy statement on the matter, despite the fact that they have no Haitian players on the team.

“The false narratives surrounding them are hurtful and disturbing, and sadly have made innocent people targets of hateful rhetoric and physical threats,” the team wrote.

The Heat faced strong backlash from fans, many of whom responded with AI-generated memes showing Trump embracing cats and ducks, animals that Haitians are accused of eating.

Chapman recently made a series of comments about Trump and Kamala Harris' performance in the presidential debates, saying Trump “doesn't seem right” and suggesting that VP Harris is the only honest candidate.

“If an older relative was at a family gathering saying the things Trump is saying in tonight's debate, you'd laugh, roll your eyes and grab some hard booze to get you through the rest of the visit,” he wrote. X.

“They keep saying, 'We just fact-checked Trump!' Because she didn't lie,” Chapman said. Added.
