Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday explained why his campaign’s TikTok account included resurfaced comments about an OnlyFans model’s TikTok account.
“The TikTok comment in question was made in 2022, long before I had a TikTok account,” Kennedy said in a post on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter. “This comment started appearing on my account because that account was previously owned by one of the campaign’s junior social media managers.”
Kennedy claimed his team. was trying to advertise When he announced his candidacy in April, he announced his presidential candidacy on all social media platforms, but he could not livestream it on the short-form video platform TikTok unless he first reached 1,000 followers. He has struggled to make much of an impact in the 2024 election, although one in five registered voters in a December poll said they were prepared to support a third-party candidate.
Kennedy supports several populist positions that align with former President Trump and some progressives in the Democratic Party.
Recent polls suggest his position in the race could improve Trump’s chances of being re-elected. A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released last month found Trump leading Biden by 7 points in a head-to-head contest, 48% to 41%, respectively.
