“I am pleased to report that I have met the conditions for participation.” [CNN] RFK Jr. said, “We look forward to holding a debate before the June 20 deadline. Biden spoke with reporters Wednesday at the Joint Chiefs of Staff Combatant Commanders Conference and issued several statements before the meeting.

After finishing, reporters shouted as many questions as they could before being removed from the room.

One of those reporters was Fox News Channel’s White House correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked Biden, “Did you see Trump say there would be a third debate?”

“Why not try it? Why not debate it three times? Why not?” Doocy asked.

Another reporter asked Biden if he was looking forward to the debate, to which he replied, “I’m looking forward to it. Come on.”

President Trump gave Biden an open invitation to debate anytime, anywhere, and Biden stepped up even further, telling President Trump in a heavily edited video on social media to “have a good day.” Told.

Biden’s announcement coincided with a letter from his campaign to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), which revealed some significant restrictions the Biden campaign is placing on debates with Trump. Became.

The demands include no audience, so the debate could benefit American voters watching on television, and “noisy or disruptive partisans or donors.” It is no longer used for entertainment.

The Biden campaign also called for muting microphones after hours, limiting the number of major new broadcast stations that can host the 2024 presidential debate, and banning RFK Jr. and other third-party candidates from participating.

“Debates should be one-on-one, allowing voters to compare the only two candidates who statistically have a chance of winning the Electoral College and becoming president,” Biden’s team said. “Debate time should not be wasted on unpromising candidates.”

President Kennedy criticized the requirement in a post on X, accusing Trump and Biden of colluding to block Biden from the debate.

“Presidents Trump and Biden are colluding to lock America into direct confrontation, but 70% say they don’t want to,” RFK Jr. wrote. “They’re trying to remove me from debates because they’re afraid I’ll win. Keeping strong candidates off the debate stage undermines democracy.”
