Riley Greene recently opened up about a nerve-wracking experience during a concert in Melbourne, Australia, where a fan threw a phone at him while he was performing. In a chat with a media outlet, the 37-year-old country artist reflected on the incident, saying he briefly considered jumping into the audience but ultimately hesitated. “I think it’s pretty childish for one person to ruin the game for everyone, especially when there are fans who’ve spent quite a bit to see the show,” he remarked.
Despite sustaining a cut that required five stitches on his earlobe, Greene carried on with the performance, humorously noting that he thought he looked “pretty cool” singing “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” with blood dripping down his neck.
In other news, Greene is set to appear at the Rock the Country Festival, which is celebrating 250 years of independence, alongside headliner Kid Rock, known for his vocal support of Donald Trump. While some performers, like Carter Faith and Ludacris, opted to step back to avoid political controversy, Greene seems unfazed.
“If someone asks me to play a festival and it makes financial sense, I’ll likely do it. I don’t delve into the political stuff much,” Greene stated. “Rock the Country sounds like a fun time. People go to concerts to escape everyday life and enjoy the music. My role is to entertain them.”
Greene gained popularity with his breakout single “There Was This Girl” and achieved further success with his first full album, “Different ‘Round Here,” released in 2019. He has subsequently released more albums and collaborated with notable artists such as Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett. Greene even mentioned a song he was unsure would be a hit because it felt too traditional, yet it resonated with listeners.
Recently, Greene announced that he’s joining “The Voice” as a coach for its upcoming 30th season, sharing a picture of himself in the iconic judge’s chair on social media. Fans are clearly eager about his new role, with many expressing their excitement in the comments.
