RNC Files Lawsuit Against Arizona to Purify Voter Registration Lists

RNC and Arizona GOP Challenge Voting Law

The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Arizona Republican Party (AZGOP) announced on Monday that they have initiated legal action against a new Arizona law permitting individuals who have never resided in the state to vote.

The lawsuit was filed with Arizona State Secretary Adrian Fonz. It centers on a law that allows “U.S. citizens who have never lived in the United States and are registered to vote for their parents.”

According to RNC Chairman Michael Wahley, “The Arizona election should be decided by Arizonans, not by individuals who have never spent a day in this country.” He expressed concerns that Democrats are attempting to influence elections by allowing votes from those without established legal residence, emphasizing the RNC’s stand to restore the integrity of elections in Arizona.

Gina Suboda, Chairman of AZGOP, echoed these sentiments, stating, “The election for Arizona must be decided by people who call this state home, not non-residents.” She stressed that the lawsuit aims to uphold the integrity of elections and protect the rights of lawful voters.

Maricopa County, the largest in Arizona, has garnered attention for its delayed vote counting in recent elections. The governor and former Secretary of State Katie Hobbs had previously rejected a similar bill in February, which was inspired by Florida’s election procedures.

Separately, the Department of Justice has recently taken legal action against Robert Page from Orange County, California, over his failure to comply with requests for information on election officials. Additionally, last month, the DOJ filed a lawsuit against North Carolina for allegedly not adhering to federal voter registration regulations.
