Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt sheds light on various missteps made by California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, especially as he gears up for a possible presidential bid in 2028.
For several months, Pratt has been quite vocal about his criticism of Newsom on social media. He pointed to the disastrous fires in Los Angeles as evidence of the governor’s ineffective recovery efforts. Pratt’s comments struck a nerve, prompting Newsom’s office to retaliate by dismissing Pratt as a “C-list reality TV star.”
In a recent post on X, Pratt slammed Newsom’s record while speculating about his White House ambitions. He shared a CNN video that noted 75% of California Democrats are encouraging Newsom to run for president. However, Pratt cautioned Californians, summarizing the state’s issues: “America’s older people, the streets covered in human waste, the nightly invasions, fentanyl overdoses around the clock—how can you support Newsom?”
Pratt’s critiques intensified after he learned of government support for laws affecting homeowners in Pacific Palisades, which he believes favor the construction of “affordable homes” over single-family residences.
So strong was Pratt’s criticism that Newsom’s office took to social media to strike back. This only seemed to further irritate Pratt, who characterized Newsom’s leadership as “shameful.”
As Californians question why the state is not allowing fire victims in Los Angeles to rebuild, Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott has offered to investigate and support Pratt’s inquiry.
“What happened in Palisades is a terrible tragedy, and we must do everything we can to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” Scott remarked on X.
Pratt’s social media push against Newsom has gathered significant traction, with many encouraging prominent figures from television to consider running against him for the governorship.
