Hollywood director Rob Reiner would “do whatever it took” for Taylor Swift to publicly support President Biden’s re-election.
“We’re filming a sequel to This Is Spinal Tap. As much as we’d like Taylor Swift to have a cameo in the movie, we’d do anything for her to support Joe Biden.” wrote Reiner in “X.” “She will virtually single-handedly save American democracy.”
Mr. Reiner has been vocal about politics and social issues in recent years. His new documentary, “God and Country,” examines the “influence of Christian nationalism” and how it can distort America’s constitutional republic and Christianity itself.
The “Spinal Tap” director, a longtime Democrat, previously praised Biden as a “decent law-abiding man” and called former President Donald Trump a “pathologically lying criminal.”
Swift hasn’t publicly endorsed it, but if she did, there’s no doubt that Biden would. The pop star supported Biden in 2020 and has been a strong critic of Trump.
The New York Times reported in January that Biden’s aides are hoping to win support from the pop icon and are even considering excluding him from her Elas Tour. . However, the report notes that it was partly a joke.
The Times reported that one of Swift’s Instagram posts in 2022 led to 35,000 new voter registrations. “Swift’s fundraising appeal could be worth millions of dollars to Biden,” the report said, as the president seeks to “inject energy” into his re-election bid.
Earlier this month, Swift urged people to vote on Super Tuesday, but did not endorse any candidate or party.
“Today, March 5th, presidential primaries will be held in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories. I wanted to remind you to vote for the person who best represents you,” she wrote on Instagram. I wrote this in my story. “If you haven’t voted yet, please make plans to vote today.”
“Whether you’re in Tennessee or elsewhere in the United States, check out your polling location and voting hours at vote.org,” she added.
Swift has previously encouraged fans to vote.
On National Voter Registration Day 2023, the singer-songwriter urged fans to register via social media. Vote.org later revealed that 35,252 people had used its platform to register to vote.
