Rosie O’Donnell Responds to Trump’s Citizenship Threat

On Sunday, Rosie O’Donnell hinted that President Donald Trump’s influence over the Supreme Court might enable him to potentially revoke her U.S. citizenship. During a discussion on “60 Minutes Australia,” she reflected on her long-standing feud with Trump and mentioned that she considered moving to Ireland after he took office in January. Recently, Trump alluded to the idea of stripping O’Donnell of her citizenship through a post on his Truth Social account.

“I’m seriously considering taking away her citizenship,” Trump wrote. He claimed O’Donnell was a threat to the nation, suggesting that if she preferred Ireland, she could stay there. It was quite a statement. It’s hard to comprehend the implications of such a move.

Reflecting on Trump’s threats, O’Donnell expressed doubt about their legality. She acknowledged, however, that there are justices on the Supreme Court who might support him. “It’s against the Constitution for now,” she said. “But, you know, he has a pawn in the Supreme Court, and you never know.”

Adam Hegerty, the show’s host, noted, “He’s trying to revoke your citizenship,” to which she responded, “That’s what he said.” It’s a troubling situation for anyone to navigate, really.

O’Donnell had previously downplayed the chances of Trump taking such action in a post on another platform last week. “He can’t do that because it’s against the Constitution,” she stated firmly. “I’m never going to give up my American citizenship. I’m very proud to be a citizen of the United States.”

Later in the interview, she discussed her desire to visit the U.S. again. “I want to see my kids and do things when it’s safe,” she shared. O’Donnell emphasized that she would take advice from trusted sources about when it would be appropriate to return.
