Rubio Encourages Europe to Secure Its Future with Technology and Reduced Migration

Rubio Advocates for Cultural Preservation at Munich Security Conference

“We seek allies who can take pride in their culture and have the ability to safeguard it,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a meeting in Germany on Valentine’s Day, attended by European political figures, generals, media representatives, and influencers.

His passionate speech garnered a standing ovation, serving as a pointed diplomatic challenge to the prevailing leftist parties within Europe. These parties, according to Rubio, undermine the citizen-led governance in Europe, aiming to dissolve these systems amid rising immigration challenges, social unrest, welfare concerns, and low-level poverty.

Rubio called upon Europe’s leaders to embrace policies that favor low immigration while promoting high-tech initiatives. He emphasized the need to protect the unique cultures of European nations, boost productivity, and increase trade with developing regions in Asia and Africa.

This message was reminiscent of previous remarks made by Trump at Davos and J.D. Vance’s comments last November.

Rubio expressed concern that mass immigration weakens national security and the defense capabilities of both individual nations and the European Union.

“Armies don’t fight for abstract concepts like diversity. They fight for their people, their nations, and a way of life. This is what we are defending—a great civilization, proud of its history and committed to its future,” he noted.

He further articulated that mass immigration is disrupting and transforming societies throughout the Western world, accusing Europe’s elites of betraying their own citizens.

“Managing immigration is not an act of xenophobia; rather, it is an essential exercise of national sovereignty,” he added. “Ignoring this responsibility poses a direct threat to our societal fabric and the survival of our civilization.”

While Rubio avoided explicitly detailing the reasons behind the elites’ reliance on immigration, he hinted at a “malaise of hopelessness and complacency,” citing fears related to climate change, warfare, and technological advancements as paralyzing influences.

He advocated for a renewed recognition of Europe’s vibrant civic culture and an economic approach that prioritizes innovation, productivity, and trade.

“We take pride in our traditions and want allies who recognize that we are part of a grand, noble civilization and are prepared to defend it together. We need to forge partnerships that empower us rather than relying on external systems for our needs,” he remarked.

“By working together, we can revitalize our economies,” he echoed sentiments similar to those previously articulated by President Trump.

“This new alliance should prioritize not just military cooperation and the revival of past industries but should also focus on shared interests and exploring new opportunities. We must harness our creativity to create a new era for the West—think commercial space travel, advanced artificial intelligence, and flexible manufacturing,” he urged.

The intent behind these economic policies appears to be a counteraction to China’s strategy of fostering high-tech manufacturing while limiting immigration.

Earlier this year, Trump proclaimed at Davos that high-tech productivity offers a better path than a reliance on immigrant-driven low-wage labor.

“Our borders are now secure, and the U.S. is experiencing one of the most remarkable economic recoveries in history,” he asserted. “It’s become widely accepted in political circles that economic growth relies on increased government spending and unchecked immigration. Yet, this approach has led to budget and trade deficits at an unprecedented scale.”

Trump derided the policies of the Biden administration and others for their detrimental effects, stating, “I’ve seen nothing like the mass immigration of recent history.”

“Most experts predicted that my strategy to revise this flawed model would result in global recession and rampant inflation,” he continued, adding, “We proved them wrong. In just one year, we have witnessed transformations unparalleled in over a century.”
