Rubio Meets with Hostage Families in D.C.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio conducted his first official meeting with families of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.
During the meeting, which was detailed in a statement from the Hostage and Missing Family Forum, Rubio reaffirmed the Trump administration’s commitment to securing the release of the 50 remaining hostages.
As relayed by the forum, Rubio expressed to family representatives in Washington, D.C. that “real victory in Gaza is only achieved when all hostages return home.”
Among those attending were Moshe Ravi, whose brother-in-law, Omri Milan, is currently being held, as well as brothers Elai David and Eviyatar David. Lieutenant Colonel Hadar Goldin, who remains missing, and Iair Horn, a former hostage, were also present, as his brother Eitan Horn is still unaccounted for.
Janet Rubio and their son, Anthony, were present at the meeting, showing familial support.
Rubio stressed the importance of the safe return of all hostages, citing that the resolution in Gaza hinges on this issue. He referenced past U.S. diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, emphasizing Israel’s advantages against Iran and Lebanon, along with its capacity to defeat Hamas militarily.
The families articulated to the Trump administration that swift and decisive actions are paramount to ensure the release of their loved ones.
“We waited long enough,” they stated. “Now is the time to make brave decisions and bring all your loved ones back at once.”
In related news, President Donald Trump mentioned he anticipates a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip “next week.”
